A slew of innovative desi-flavoured stickers are catering to the growing demand for fun, regional online expressions

Our desi emojis leave nothing to the imagination. From Diwali lamps to auto rickshaws, and the tricolour, there are hundreds of stickers at our disposal that can make our daily online engagement interesting and fun.  During the pandemic, we stumbled upon a rupee emoji that was created to facilitate payment on the app. While it may not have been put to use on the UPI platform, but the idea was interesting. Even celebrity Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi created a mouth-watering emoji for his signature lassi and the tagline was ‘Assi Demand Lassi’. The creators have left nothing to the imagination, and have found new ways to explore every possible local subject, including the Indian tricolour, autorickshaws or even festivals like Holi. 

If you remember, last year, the Khanda, a symbol of the Sikh faith, was added to the Emoji library. Up for approval were also some other interesting emojis such as pushing hands, a shaking face, and a hair pick for styling textured locks.
